It is my belief that if a person has the physical ability and a heart of passion for the LORD, that their inability to dance before the LORD is...
...PRIDE.
Yes, Pride stands in the way of a man for many things and I believe that complete abandonment before the LORD is one of them. "Pride?" you might wonder.
Pride--worrying about what others think of you and what others will say about you is pride because you are concerned with yourself, rather than the LORD.
How many times does the LORD meet you in a real way and you begin to rock back and forth?
Has the LORD ever moved you during a particular song that led you to pace back and forth in the room?
Have you had a moment when the LORD blessed you and answered your prayer when you wanted to leap for joy?
What stopped you, if you didn't express yourself before the LORD?
Proverbs 11:2 says, "When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom."
Are you humbled by the LORD when he meets you, speaks to you, blesses you, answers your prayers (even if different than you'd like or thought)?
I am not saying that I think that everyone should dance before the LORD. I am saying that for those who have a heart to move before the LORD and to whom He has given a heart for dance, to not dance would be allowing pride to rule you because you care about what others think of you. "Pooey!" would say the LORD.
Imagine if you danced before the LORD without caring if anyone was around. Imagine what a blessing it would be to the LORD, what an encouragment it would be to other believers, and how freeing it would be for you to release the passion in your heart to the LORD!
